OKM 2017 Commemorative Poster Now Available

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — The 2017 OK Mozart Music Festival commemorative poster is now available at the OKM office and also will be offered for sale in the festival gift shop. Now gearing up for its 33rd event, planned June 8-16 in Bartlesville, the festival features classical, chamber and contemporary music in multiple venues.

The art depicted on the poster is from a painting by Michaela Steinacher, of Austria, who specializes in experimental acrylic art. Her painting depicts an old, familiar image of Wolfgang A. Mozart that she covered with colorful brushstrokes.

Mary Lynn Mihm, board chairman of the festival, stumbled upon the image by accident while on the Internet and luckily the original painting was for sale. She was so taken with its “progressive” look for Mozart that Mihm purchased the artwork and donated it to the festival.

“The engaging acrylic painting by Michaela Steinacher beautifully describes the complexity and genius of Mozart,” said Mihm. “This wonderful abstract piece captures the essence of Mozart spanning over four centuries. It also allows the viewer to emotionally define what Mozart’s music means to them personally. This masterpiece captures the very heart of the OK Mozart Festival.”

Steinacher was born in Mödling, Austria, in 1972. Advanced studies in the human form, abstract themes, as well as various acrylic and drawing techniques led to the opening of her own studio in Klausen – Leopoldsdorf near Vienna. She is a member of the Austrian Artists Union and is a member of the National Austrian Association for Professional Art.

Regarding her art pieces, she says, “My interpretation of the motif should express aliveness due to a combination of reduced simplicity and pop art. In my abstract paintings the accidental, initial period of chaos turns step-by-step into a certain order.”

Steinacher’s Mozart image is featured in the festival poster as well as other marketing materials for the 2017 season. The festival poster may be purchased for $10 plus tax during the festival and in advance in the OK Mozart office, 415 S. Dewey, in Bartlesville.
